BUTCHERY TRAINING PROGRAMME

If you are interested in a career within the meat industry with the potential to find employment with butcheries, meat manufactures and retail outlets, you may be a suitable candidate for our Butchery Training Programme.

A 6 Month Skills Training Programme

The programme provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to gain employment within the meat industry.

The programme is conducted in a fully operational butchery where students will learn the required techniques of working with meat to gain employment within the meat industry.

Students receive one on one practical training in the use of butchery equiptment and machinery as well as training to become a blockman.

  • Health Hygiene and Safety practices

  • HACCP Training

  • Meat and carcass cutting techniques

  • Trimmings and cost effective use of trimmings

  • Preservation, packaging and freezing of meat

  • Meat preparation and cooking methods

  • Cost effective marketing of meat products

  • Personal Development and Communication

Employment opportunities post-graduation include butcheries, meat manufactures, retail outlets, as well as entrepreneurial opportunities.
